I'm your clown, dance for me.
Full Body VR Game using user's motion detection, 2024
Step into an immersive VR experience where every movement transforms the gallery into a dynamic stage. This interactive game uses full-body motion detection, turning the player into a performer whose actions shape the environment in real time.
The application utilizes the VR headset’s hand and head tracking to accurately capture the player's movements, mirroring them onto a clown avatar that serves as their virtual counterpart. A simple hand gesture allows players to seamlessly switch between mixed reality, featuring the black-and-white passthrough mode of the Quest 2, and full virtual reality.
Floating 3D objects populate the space, responding dynamically to the player's presence by following and avoiding them, encouraging playful interaction. Players can reach out and touch these objects, each triggering unique sounds that enhance the sensory experience.
A designated circle is drawn on the floor, marking the central interaction zone. When standing within this circle, the player hears music and faces the clown’s grinning face. On the floor, the words “Dance with me” invite them to engage fully. As they move through the space, they chase objects, reach into the air, and dance with their virtual partner.
This game provokes an individual dance performance that is not only engaging for the player but also entertaining for spectators. The combination of interactive elements, music, and mixed reality offers a unique and captivating experience that blurs the line between physical and digital performance.
